    This area of the city was expanding rapidly by the middle of the 1960s due to the influx of people from the rest of Spain who settled here. The market was built in 1968 to meet the growing demands for food. The refurbishment, completed in 2001, transformed the market into a modern amenity that plays a key role in the local community.
