Barcelona on two wheels
Who said that bikes were only for the summer? In the Catalan capital you can use them all year round. They're also one of the most fun ways to explore the city in the open air, with your friends, family or on your own. We've got a few ideas to help you discover the city from a different angle as you pedal through the streets, squares and green spaces.
Through the city
From the beach to Plaça de Catalunya, along Passeig de Gràcia, past La Pedrera and Casa Batlló and through the Eixample as far as the Sagrada Família. Exploring historic Barcelona on two wheels, stopping at some of the most iconic spots with your bike and listening to the guide tell you stories and anecdotes is the perfect way to start the day. You'll find the route you're looking for at VisitBarcelona Tickets.
Along the beach
A simple, relaxing cycle route that offers a practically uninterrupted ride. The sea takes centre stage on this 14km round trip which offers splendid views of the city. We recommend you start in Plaça Colom and cycle as far as the Forum, along the cycle lanes on the Moll de la Fusta quayside and the Barceloneta boardwalk. There's a long stretch of uninterrupted cycle lanes that runs along the Passeig de la Villa Olímpica as far as the Forum. You can get back to Barceloneta beach along the Avinguda Meridiana or retrace your journey along the route you've taken.
Through the mountains
Barcelona offers a plethora of mountain trails. Collserola and Tibidabo have different trails for different levels. The simplest and best known is the Carretera de les Aigües which not only boasts breathtaking views of the city but is also flat underfoot and suitable for all levels. You can get there along many different routes, the most popular being Avinguda Tibidabo, which ends at Carrer Manuel Arnús, but the terrain is extremely uneven. Another more simple option which is perfect if you're with the family, is to take your bike on any of the FGC trains (you can use the same card as on the metro and the prices are also the same), get off at Peu del Funicular and take the funicular to the station at Carretera de les Aigües.
Along the river
This circuit won't take you as long because you won't have to stop. All you have to do is let yourself pedal at your own pace. This route takes you along the side of the Besòs river and covers a distance of about 10km. There is a two-way asphalted cycle lane that is 5km long. It runs alongside a grassy verge that follows the course of the river. The best way to get there is from the Forum area, along the cycle lane on Carrer Taulat.
