    In 2021, Barcelona will be the World Sustainable Food Capital. The nomination stems from the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact, signed in 2019 by cities from around the world, including Barcelona. To mark the occasion, dozens of entities and organisations from Barcelona will be taking part in events and activities and discussing measures that will reflect on the way we eat and foster sustainable and agroecological food.

    Food waste is one of the world's most serious problems in terms of sustainability. Barcelona will be in the spotlight in order to warn people about this emergency and show the different ways cities can develop a sustainable food system that will provide access to healthy food and act against malnutrition. Throughout 2021, you'll be able to take part in a whole host of activities and initiatives based on fair, healthy and sustainable food that will take place in different settings, including fresh food markets and municipal venues.
