Encants de Barcelona / Fira de Bellcaire
This is one of the oldest open-air markets in Europe and its origins can be traced back to medieval times. The first records of the market date from the middle of the 14th century, when it was held by the city walls, but it has moved to different sites around the city several times since then. It has stood in Plaça de les Glòries since 2013, in new, purpose-built premises that retain the original spirit of the open-air market. The modern structure consists of different modules with sloping roofs. Their undersides are clad in layers of polished stainless steel that reflect the light and the surrounding urban landscape. An absolute must for lovers of antiques, shopping and auctions, as well as bargain hunters.
