The work of Valérie Belin explores the relationship between reality, representation and artifice through frontal photography of great formal precision. The exhibition, presented at the Museu Picasso, brings together several series by the French artist, who since the 1990s has used the human figure to question identity and simulacrum. Through the use of colour and a language she describes as “magical realism”, her images place bodies between the real, the iconic and illusion. .
