Grand Départ Barcelona 2026 - Tour de France
Sports
07/04/2026 - 07/05/2026
Barcelona will host the start of the 113th edition of the Tour de France, marking the third time in the race's history that the Grande Boucle begins in Spain, following San Sebastián (1992) and Bilbao (2023). The city thus reinforces its strong ties with international cycling, a relationship that over the decades has found its emblematic setting on Montjuïc hill.
Barcelona previously featured on the Tour route in 1957, 1965 and 2009, and has regularly hosted major cycling competitions. Montjuïc, the sporting heart of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, has staged stages of La Vuelta, the Volta a Catalunya and World Championships, consolidating its status as an iconic venue for cycling.
The Barcelona Grand Départ, scheduled for 4 and 5 July 2026, will place Montjuïc centre stage. The opening day will feature a 19.7-kilometre team time trial, while the second stage, covering 178 kilometres, will conclude with a demanding final circuit finishing in front of the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Two stages set to showcase the first major battles among the favourites for the yellow jersey and to place Barcelona, once again, at the heart of world sport.
