Walker Evans: Now and Then offers a broad and timely reassessment of the work of one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century. Walker Evans (1903–1975) developed an apparently neutral yet deeply critical gaze on American society, capturing everyday scenes, vernacular architecture and anonymous faces with a clarity that reshaped documentary photography.

Curated by David Campany, Creative Director of New York's International Center of Photography, the exhibition spans Evans's entire career, from his early work of the 1920s to his Polaroid experiments in the 1970s. Iconic photographs, editorial projects and publications enter into dialogue to reveal Evans's lasting influence on contemporary visual culture. Together, they present an artist who observed his time with rigour and detachment, while raising essential questions about photography as a tool for representation and critical thought.
