MACBA's 30th Anniversary Collection
Barcelona Art Season, Exhibitions
11/28/2025 - 11/28/2026
The MACBA celebrates its 30th anniversary with an exhibition that pays tribute to its remarkable journey. In this show, the Museum's Collection is presented as a constellation of works that come to life and interweave in a unique way, reflecting the evolution of the cultural landscape, shaped by migration, political resistance and new forms of collectivity.
The exhibition creates connections between different artistic approaches, inviting the public to reflect on how we understand our identity and how traditional categories such as gender, race or nationality can be limiting. Through its proposal, the show encourages us to question hierarchical structures and explore new ways of living and relating in the world, even considering aspects beyond the human and the spiritual.
The journey will include works by key artists in the museum's history, such as Joan Ponç, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ocaña, Esther Ferrer, Zush, William Kentridge, among others, in dialogue with new acquisitions. Thus, the exhibition invites us to explore the MACBA's critical commitment to contemporary art and its ability to generate an experimental space for cultural transformation.
