Barcelona Art Season, Exhibitions
10/18/2025 - 03/15/2026
Expaña 365, curated by Valentín Roma, is an exhibition on the artist Isaías Griñolo on display at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge. In this show, Griñolo, visual artist, filmmaker and curator, presents an in-depth exploration of themes such as historical memory, ecology, flamenco and poetry, with a critical look at the hegemonic narratives about Spanish identity. Through his multidisciplinary approach, the artist challenges the conventions of art and history, inviting a complex reflection on the past and the present.
For years, Griñolo has been working on projects that challenge traditional narrative structures, his historia_contemporánea (contemporary history) being one of his most prominent, exhibited in venues such as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and MNCARS in Madrid. His key works include the film essays La España profunda (2018), Auschwitz on the beach (2019) and 135 - 47 = 88 (2021), which address issues of identity, culture and trauma in Spanish society.
The exhibition also includes his collaboration in Cantes tóxicos, an innovative live cinema series that explores flamenco in a contemporary context.
