Pablo MilanésMusic pop, jazz, folk ...

The Cuban Pablo Milanés was the leading figure in "feeling", a Cuban style of music influenced by romantic songs and North American jazz, in which feelings defined the performance. His 1965 album "Mis 22 años" was a bridge between feeling and the Nueva Trova Cubana, a movement which he shared in the 1960s with artists such as Silvio Rodríguez, Vinicius de Moraes and Víctor Jara. As a composer he has taken on many styles such as the Son Cubano and the Canción protesta. Some of his more famous songs are "Yolanda", "Yo me quedo" and "Para vivir". Pablo Milanés has collaborated with several artists such as Maná, Silvio Rodríguez, Joaquín Sabina, Ana Belén, Joan Manuel Serrat and Ismael Serrano. At 76 years old he is returning to Barcelona for the Guitar BCN 2020 in order to perform "Esencia", a small-scale show where he will treat us to a pared-down version of his five decades of work featuring only a cello and a piano.
