L'Auditori presents a musical experience of profound spiritual intensity featuring two landmark works from the sacred repertoire: Beethoven's “Christ on the Mount of Olives” and Haydn's “The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross”. Under the direction of Jordi Savall, La Capella Nacional de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations deliver a period-instrument performance that heightens the dramatic power, expressive tension and contemplative dimension of these scores. Arias, choruses and orchestral passages trace a sonic journey from the anguish of Gethsemane to deep meditation on suffering and redemption. The concert forms part of the Festival Barcelona Ciutat de Clàssica. .
