Traditional Nativity Scene of the Barcelona City Council
Christmas Time, Popular festivals and traditions
12/13/2025 - 01/05/2026
The traditional nativity scene that fills the interior of Barcelona City Hall becomes, this year, a small reflection of the country, a landscape of rivers, valleys and mountains that evokes the tranquillity of the villages in the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees. Moss, earth and vegetation create a welcoming setting where slate roofs and mountain paths give way to the most iconic scenes of Christmas.
The Annunciation, the Nativity, the visit of the Magi and the Flight into Egypt coexist with endearing figures from Catalan nativity scenes: shepherds and shepherdesses, the fisherman, the hunter, the stonemason, the mushroom picker and the caganer, who bring warmth and a sense of familiarity.
Created by the Barcelona Nativity Scene Association, the display keeps a centuries-old tradition alive and transforms the Town Hall lobby into a space of light, memory and Christmas essence.
