Cannabis Japonica - Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum
05/12/2022 - 02/26/2023
Barcelona's Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the Cannabis Japonica exhibition, a fashionable journey through Japan's cultural ties to the cannabis plant. Cannabis has been very popular throughout Japan's history. In early spring, each rural household planted four to five rows of hemp seeds. Cultivated hemp was the family's main source of fiber for weaving cloth and also served as a source of income. The threads from the finest stalks were used to weave sumptuous kimonos, samurai armor and robes for the Shinto priests. The exhibition allows visitors to explore the close links between the cannabis plant and the unique clothing of this culture. .
