Education in freedom. Barcelona and the school. 1908-1979
04/09/2021 - 03/27/2022
A scenographic journey revealing the key moments in the history of education during the 20th century and the historical and political context in which it was set.
The exhibition begins in 1908, when Barcelona City Council approved the Extraordinary Budget for Culture, a plan for the comprehensive reform of education in the city, emphasizing education that was of high quality, public, free, in Catalan, secular, and with both boys and girls sharing the classrooms. The project was inspired by experiences of teaching reforms and brought a debate to the table that is still very much in existence today.
