From its beginnings almost two centuries ago, photography has been a space for play and imagination. Long before cameras became common in households, having one's portrait taken could mean briefly experiencing the illusion of flying, sailing or living in a palace. At the beginning of the 20th century, this fantasy became widespread thanks to the "minute photographers", itinerant men and women who travelled from town to town and to local festivals with handmade cameras, painted backdrops and small props. The images, developed "on the spot" and in full view of the public, were affordable and continued to be produced until the 1960s, when domestic photography became widespread. This exhibition recovers and recreates some of the photographs preserved by the Museu Marítim de Barcelona, inviting visitors to continue playing with images through today's mobile devices.
