The paths of abstraction, 1957 - 1978Exhibitions
09/29/2022 - 01/15/2023

After the Second World War, and against the backdrop of Franco's Spain, a new form of abstract was born. It was different from the interwar avant-garde art and characterized by the questioning of the form and the matter of painting itself. This exhibition offers a carefully selected collection of works from Spanish Abstract Art Museum in Cuenca, which, in the words of Alfred H. Barr, founder and first direct of the MoMA, is the most beautiful small museum in the world, and it displays works by such acclaimed artists as Antonio Saura, Manolo Millares, Antoni Tàpies and Josep Guinovart in dialogue with works by other international artists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Alexander Calder.

This exhibition has several complementary activities that take place in different venues in the city. You can check them here.
