La Virreina Centre de la Imatge is presenting a retrospective of the German artist Joseph Beuys (Krefeld, 1921 - Düsseldorf, 1986) that allows us to understand his historical context, from the late 1950s to the mid-1980s, in the midst of the Cold War. Through three facets explored by the artist (his art teaching, the role of artists in the public sphere, and the development and use of the work of art), we explore Beuys's corpus, his cultural context in which the German institutions supervised culture from a sociodemocratic perspective, and his participation in the Fluxus movement, among other landmarks in his career.
