The Palau Güell was one of the first major commissions Gaudí received at the start of his career. The industrialist, politician and patron Eusebi Güell, wanted the then-unknown architect to design this unusual townhouse as an extension of his family home on Barcelona's Rambla.

The building is considered one of the finest examples of domestic art nouveau architecture.
