The 2020 Grec Festival will showcase 108 events throughout the summer beginning on 30th June, with the emphasis on contemporary performance and a new three-pronged format: Grec Festival (48 events throughout July), Grec en Obert (36 activities designed to be performed digitally, including plays, dance, open rehearsals, talks and walking tours) and De Grec a Grec, a series of performances by the city’s different theatres with 24 plays that have been postponed and will begin in September and run throughout the 2020-2021 season.

The opening events on 30th June and 1st July will be a tribute to the healthcare staff and key workers in the form of the entertainment "A tocar" brought to you by the company Baró d'evel and other performers. The festival will feature La Veronal, Mal Pelo, Compagnie XY, Sergio Blanco, Angelica Liddell, Silvia Pérez Cruz, La Ribot, Tiago Rodrigues, Angelica Liddell, and the Belgian dance troupe Peeping Tom, to name but a few.

The Grec venues will include the open-air Teatre Grec on Montjuïc, the Mercat de les Flors, Teatre Lliure, TNC, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, Born CCM, the Museu Marítim, Jamboree and the Palau de la Música Catalana.

This year there will be music galore, with names including the Cuban singer Omara Portuondo, Manel, Els Amics de les Arts, Mayte Martín and Stay Homas at the Teatre Grec. There will also be concerts at the Palau de la Música Catalana with names such as Xavier Sabata, the Orquestra Simfònica del Liceu and a session dedicated to Mahler. Other venues, like Jamboree, will host a series of concerts.

The festival will take into account the current circumstances and new safety measures. Audience numbers will be limited and venues will be cleaned constantly. There will be new venues that will allow a different relationship between the performers and the audience.

Take a look at the programme. This summer you'll be able to enjoy the festival to the full!
