Liceu d'estiuClassical music and Opera, Festivals
06/22/2020 - 2020

The region will be hosting a packed calendar of concerts in association with Catalonia's major festivals
Now, more than ever, it's time for our leading cultural institutions to  join forces and continue to offer exciting live music events. Painting, performance and video will be among the main strands of the schedule which will continue with the Liceu for the Arts project devised by the artistic director of the opera house, Víctor Garcia de Gomar.
The Cruïlla XXS Festival will be the first initiative to work with the Liceu on 9th and 10th July in the TNC gardens with a performance of Max Richter's Vivaldi Recomposed by the  Ensemble de l'Orquestra del Liceu featuring Kai Gleusteen as soloist and conductor. The remaining concerts, produced in association with other festivals and venues, including  Castell de Peralada, Jardins de Pedralbes, Grec and the Auditori de Girona, will be announced shortly. The concept artist  Eugenio Ampudia will be launching the Liceu summer programme on 22nd June with his Concert for the Biocene, a thought-provoking symbolic performance designed to encourage us to reflect on the need to reformulate the present and seek a paradigm shift. The sixth Liceu a la Fresca season will still take place but in a different format. Thanks to the support of the Catalan television company, Televisió de Catalunya, and Spanish television, RTVE, viewers will be able to enjoy a broadcast of Calitxo Bieto's production of Carmen by Bizet  – scheduled for this year’s Liceu a la Fresca – recorded in 2011 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. It will be shown on Televisió de Catalunya's Canal 33 on 20th June at 10pm and on  RTVE’s channel La2 on 5th July at midnight.
