La clemenza di Tito - MozartClassical music and Opera
02/19/2020 - 04/29/2020
Mozart composed this work while immersed in the creation of The Magic Flute. It was a commission to celebrate the coronation of Leopold II as king of Bohemia. The great composer set "La clemenza di Tito" in the Rome of the 1st century A.D, availing himself of amorous passion and hate to reflect the relationship between Vitellia and Sesto with the emperor Tito at the center of the plot. Mozart composed the opera within the most serious canons and conventions of the genre yet without failing to endow it with new touches and, effectively, recreate it. Now it comes to the Liceu under the direction of the great stage director David McVicar.
