The musical Carousel was the second joint work of the librettist Oscar Hammerstein II and the composer Richard Rogers. Opening in Broadway in 1945, this musical is based on a story by the Hungarian author Ferenc Molnárc. It tells the story of a fairground worker and a young female laborer, who lose their jobs when they start living together. For a better future, as the girl is pregnant, the main character embarks on a series of robberies, which end up with tragic consequences.
Now at the Grec Festival of Barcelona, this musical is presented live for the first time, with concert adaptation by Daniel Anglès and Xavier Torras. It is a large dimension show, with many musicians on stage and a line-up of stars to transmit the overflowing emotions of this story.
