The Fundació Mies van der Rohe was set up in 1983 by the Barcelona City Hall with the initial purpose of reconstructing the German Pavilion designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition. In accordance with its objectives, the Fundació organises awards, congresses, conferences, exhibitions, workshops and cultural events.

The program of activites exhibitions, video art, dance and contemporary music. All the interventions are specifically created for the Pavilion, generating new looks and enhancing it as a space of inspiration and experimentation.

383 project are competing in the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - the Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2019.
The process culminates in the EU Mies Award Day on 7 May at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona with the opening of the exhibition, lectures and debates, a presentation of the catalog and the awards ceremony.

Open doors 2019: 10th February (Santa Eulàlia), 23rd April (Sant Jordi), 19th May (Museums Day) and 24th September (La Mercè).
