Further proof that Barcelona attracts the most incredible range of musicians to perform here comes in the shape of this popular music festival, which this year reaches its 20th edition. Starting in late autumn and spread out over various months through to the spring, the 'Millennium Festival' (the name comes from the fact that it was inaugurated back at the turn of the millennium) features an average of 50 concerts, bringing joy into the lives of music fans during what is the quietest time of year for such happenings.
Its appeal is increased ten-fold by the effort of organisers Concert Studio to create an eclectic programme that really lives up to the adage 'something for everybody'. In addition to those already confirmed for the 20th edition of the festival such as the Swedish indie singer-songwriter José González, the Galician multi-instrumentalist Carlos Núñez with his traditional New Year concert, and the Catalan group Sau, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary, we will also find Jarabe de Palo (also celebrating their 20th anniversary), Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Miguel Poveda (with his EnLorquecido tour), Los Planetas (on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of one of their most iconic numbers), MC50, Kool & The Gang at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, UB40, Nathy Peluso, Adamo (one of the festival's classic acts), the singer-songwriter Rosana, Deacon Blue, Ólafur Arnalds, and many others. A deluxe bill to celebrate and enjoy the 20th anniversary of one of the best festivals in the city.
