50th Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival of BarcelonaMain Events 2018, Music pop, jazz, folk ...
10/26/2018 - 12/21/2018

A new music festival was created on November 3, 1966 in Barcelona, where jazz played the leading role. The Barcelona Jazz Festival didn't take place between 1977 and 1979, so 2018 sees it celebrating its 50th edition. From the start, the festival has aimed to bring the various styles of jazz music to the public, and to be a platform for both established and emerging artists.

After the performances that form part of the Grec Festival, a very special edition of the event begins at the end of October. It is a festival that spreads throughout the whole of the city and to other spaces close to Barcelona. The Palau de la Música, Luz de Gas, Sala BARTS, L'Auditori, the Harlem Jazz Club and the Teatre–Auditori de Sant Cugat are just some of the venues being used for your enjoyment.

There are two months in which to appreciate performances by names such as Chucho Valdés Jazz Batá, La Locomotora Negra, Els Amics de les Arts (symphonic project), Tribalistas, Avishai Cohen, Marlango, The Gramphone Allstars Big Band, Dave Liebman – Marc Copland, The Bad Plus to name but a few. In addition there will be master classes, lectures, free concerts and a multitude of other activities that combine to make this festival so unique.

Lastly, the DeCajón festival, included as part of this jazz festival, has attracted leading figures from the world of flamenco to Barcelona: Diego el Cigala, Tomatito, José Mercé, Vicente Amigo, Mayte Martín, Chicuelo, José del Tomate and Kiki Morente are names that lend the event a distinctive personality all of its own.
