Òpera de Butxaca is a new cultural initiative created with the purpose of bringing highlights of opera classics to the public.
La Petita Companyia Lírica
are staging two of the world’s most famous dramatic operas – Verdi’s La Traviata and Bizet’s Carmen – to give the audience a chance to experience the essence of opera.La Traviata
La Traviata, Giuseppe Verdi’s dramatic masterpiece based on Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Lady of the Camellias, is one of the world’s most widely performed operas. Set in the same time as it was written, audiences were scandalised by the wanton lifestyle of its central character. A selection of three scenes will reinforce the dramatic line of the opera and acting skills involved. (three singers and a pianist).Carmen
Carmen is a story of love, passion and death. Don José and Carmen have a date with a destiny foretold that was, perhaps, a result of their personalities. With music by Georges Bizet, and through the eyes of José Lizarrabengoa, the character in Prosper Merimée’s novel, come and relive one of the great myths of Spanish culture: Carmen, the femme fatale.
