La Barceloneta
The streets of the Barceloneta in Ciutat Vella district are arranged like corridors running parallel and perpendicular to the Port de Barcelona, and draw us into a world of modest buildings, with balconies displaying clothes hanging out to dry and small ground-floor restaurants and tapas bars, filled with chatter and noise, and permeated by the constant smell of the sea.

Itaca was created in 1977 by some people trying to recover, investigate and commercialise such an important cultural legacy as Popular Art. When created, the importance in recovering this cultural treasure was out of question. That’s why since the beginning, an art gallery was developed, in which ancient popular art pieces were exhibited and commercialised; they were recovered from work centres now disappeared around Spain. Throughout time, Itaca faced some changes of the new Barcelona and got ready to gather a wide variety of quality souvenirs. Without forgetting what has Itaca made to be one of the best popular art shop in Spain, we offer a never-ending variety of products from the country as well as a vast showcase of object designs inspired in the great architect Antoni Gaudí, which become a marvellous souvenir of the city and, somehow, sets a new concept of form and colour in the 21 century decoration.
