A VERY SPECIAL FURNITURE AND LIGHTING SHOWROOM Barcelona Design Gallery represents a new concept in the interpretation of space. Breaking with traditional furniture and lighting stores, it offers remarkable pieces from different parts of the world (New York, Nigeria, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo…) and the opportunity to develop interior design projects or to personalise special products. The store, which has a strong New York feel, doubles up as an art gallery, periodically exhibiting the work of well-known artists and new talents. BDG brings together synergies of creativity and sensitivity. The aim of its creator, Siegfried Blume, has been to open a showroom where visitors will find “different” pieces of furniture and lighting, which are uncompromising and full of character. There are exquisite materials for curtains and upholstery from New York; original tables and chairs crafted in wood from Nigeria; elegant chests of drawers and leather-upholstered pieces of incidental furniture, with strikingly pure lines; among the special designs are a cigar cabinet and a 1950s-style drinks cabinet. The 190m2 premises, with their high ceilings, enormous riveted iron beams from the early 1900s, thick columns and large windows, lend themselves perfectly to the exhibition of art. Thus the Art Gallery was created, where from time to time artists of any discipline can showcase their work. Barcelona Design Gallery also opens its doors to companies or individuals for product presentations and other events. The architecture and atmosphere give visitors the impression that they have walked into a studio in the heart of Manhattan’s SoHo. At BDG, personalised and custom-designed products are developed, as well as interior design projects for the home, offices and installations. The professional service and the confidence inspired by the staff encourage customers to work together with the creative team to produce that piece of furniture they always dreamed of designing.
