New Year's Eve
Main events 2017, Christmas Time
12/31/2017 - 01/01/2018
Greet 2018 by celebrating New Year's Eve in Barcelona. In the past few years, crowds have gathered at Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina, in the Plaça de'Espanya and at the foot of Montjuïc. This is the venue for this great celebration in Barcelona, which this year takes grapes as its central theme. The show intends to go beyond the element, use its shape and symbology, an endless line without a start of an end, which recalls the passing of time.
Grapes, the icon of the night, will be present from before the start of the show, with giants representing the structures to represent the natural growth of the vine in bunches. Grapes and their symbolic significance will be the common theme of the firework display, the lighting design and the soundtrack.
And after the local tradition of eating 12 grapes on the twelve strokes of the clock at midnight, you will find many venues to welcome the new year. You can go to great clubs like the Razzmatazz or the Sala Apolo, which are organizing parties until daybreak of 1st January, or you can enjoy the celebrations planned at the Poble Espanyol, which are very popular with young people. You can also go to restaurants or flamenco clubs, which usually offer an evening full of entertainment with meals, music and dancing all included (apart from the significant grapes...)
"Experiencing New Year's Eve at Plaça d'Espanya at the foot of Montjuïc is something you must do at least once. After eating the grapes, there are a range of parties organized. I decided to stay at Poble Espanyol, but there are many other things to do".
