Organized by the National Art Museum of Catalonia and the Juan March Foundation, this exhibition takes an in-depth look at the many facets of the designer, craftsman, businessman, poet, essayist and social activist William Morris (1834-1896), as well as the main figures of the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain, linked to design and the decorative arts.
The show is organized into four chronological sections and presents 300 important works including furniture, textiles, wallpaper, jewelry, glassware, ceramics, metalwork, bindings, painting, drawing, engraving and photography.
The vast majority of the pieces come from British institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Fitzwilliam Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, the Tate, the Whitworth Art Gallery, the William Morris Gallery and the William Morris Society, as well as major private collections.
