The Fundació Joan Miró presents an exhibition that explores the relationship and dialogue between some modern artists, during the inter-war period (1918-1939), and the archeological findings from the Mesopotamian age in Syria and Iraq, which were French and British colonies at the time. The figuration of Mesopotamian works form part of the imaginary of western art: Cuneiform script, infinite composition with cylindrical seals, or legends like the Tower of Babel or the Epic of Gilgamesh become recurrent motifs for artists such as Le Corbusier and de Kooning.
