Within the framework of Barcelona Obertura, throughout the month of October, you can experience an attractive range of styles and genres at various settings of the city of Barcelona: the modernist Palau de la Música Catalana, the Gran Teatre del Liceu –a historic theater house- and the modern Auditorium

Barcelona Obertura Classic and Lyric is conceived from the union of these outstanding auditoriums and Ibercamera, to place classical and lyrical music of Barcelona on the world map and attract music lovers from throughout the world.

As part of the 2017 program, this autumn Barcelona Obertura is holding four different concerts with internationally renowned musicians, orchestras and directors.

The Palau de la Música presents Violin Concertos by Mozart and Symphony no. 49 by Hadyn, featuring the violinist Isabelle Faust and Il Giardino Armonico, directed by Giovanni Antonini (19). The same venue hosts the first audition in Europe of Considering Matthew Shepard by Hella Johnson (21), directed by Simon Halsey and the Orfeó Català. Two days later, the director Philippe Herreweghe and Collegium Vocale Gent present Vespro della Beata Vergine by Monteverdi (23), one of the first great works in the history of music. Lastly, the Auditorium presents Sergei Krylovon the violin, conducted by Michal Nesterowicz, with Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky and Violin Concerto by Xostakòvitx.
