The Olympic torch and flag will once again run through the city of Barcelona, 25 years later. It will follow a route of around 6.5 km from the mountain of Montjuïc to the Plaça Catalunya.
The first relay runner will leave the Palauet Albéniz at 8.30pm. From here, there will be a series of relays to take both the Olympic torch and flag to the Plaça Catalunya, where they will arrive at around 9.45pm
The torch will be carried by athletes of '92 and participants of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games 2016, volunteers of the Voluntaris 2000 entity, and by representatives of the civil society (cultural, politics, social, the media,...)
The last legendary relay of '92 will be relived once again, when the basketball player, Juan Antonio San Epifanio, better known as Epi, and the archer and paralympic medalist, Antonio Rebollo, recreate the symbolic lighting of the cauldron. This will give way to the simultaneous lighting of the cauldron at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium. Epi will be accompanied on the relay by the paralympic athlete, Teresa Perales.
The public fiesta at Plaça Catalunya will start at 8pm with the projection of a series of evocative Olympic videos. It will continue with the performance of the musical band “Mambo Jambo”.
At 9.45pm when the last relay runners enter Plaça Catalunya, the torches will be taken to the stage, where Antonio Rebollo will receive it and symbolically light the cauldron (at the same time, the cauldron at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium will also be lit). It will be accompanied by a firework display and "Barcelona" by Montserrat Caballé and Freddie Mercury will sound in the background."Los Manolos" will perform at 10pm.
