Thomas Zehetmair from Austria, is a versatile pianist and conductor, who in 1994 formed his own quartet. The Zehetmair Quartet is characterized for its contemporaneity, and has become established as one of the most prestigious formations in the world. Composed by Zehetmair himself on the violin, Kuba Jakowicz on second violin, Ruth Killius on the viola and Christian Elliot on the cello, the quartet is now at the Palau de la Música to perform pieces by Haydn and also Quartet no. 5 by Hindemith, well-known for its technical difficulty.
