The Gràcia festival attracts more than one and a half million people

Barcelona’s Gràcia district has its own distinctive personality. A former village that was absorbed by the city in the late 19th century. With its narrow streets and the Park Güell as its iconic landmark, Gràcia still retains the essence of a typical village which is expressed to the full between 15th and 21st August when it celebrates its popular festival. The "Festa Major de Gràcia" dates back more than 200 years and is the city’s only major celebration, in addition to its main festival, to have received the honorary designation of Festival of National Tourist Interest.

During the week-long celebrations, locals and visitors alike stroll through the streets and squares to enjoy the unique spectacle of light and colour, which is the result of the imagination and months of work carried out by the local residents. With a broad-ranging calendar of activities, concerts and cultural events, Gràcia showcases the best it has to offer with a blend of local and imported traditions.

This is certainly Barcelona’s busiest, most authentic, best-loved festival. Come and experience it for yourself!
